Last Weekend in Summer

It's hard to believe this was the last weekend in summer. I'm sad to see it go. I do like fall though, but I also don't like it because I know that winter is right around the corner. YUCK!

Yesterday morning Gabe went for a run. When he came home, I went to the gym. While I was there, Gabe and Avery went to the public market to enjoy the nice day outside. After the gym, I came home and did some much needed cleaning and organizing so that was nice. After Avery's nap we decided to take her to the playground for a little bit since it was so nice outside. She had a lot of fun going down the slides and going on the swings:

I got a nice family photo of us:
When we got home, Gabe's parents came over to babysit so Gabe and I could go out for dinner. We went to Pier 45 again and sat outside. It was very nice.
Today we were pretty busy as well. This morning, Gabe's family (parents, sister and kids, aunts, uncles and a few cousins) all met at Wegman's for coffee and to plan our upcoming clambake. We figured out the menu and who is bringing what. When we got home, Avery had lunch and napped. I went out grocery shopping. When she woke up, we played outside a little bit while Gabe mowed the lawn. Then we went to Panera for dinner and to Lugia's for some ice cream! Only a few good days left to do that this season!!

It was a very nice last weekend of summer!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a very nice Father's Day weekend.

Yesterday I went to the gym in the morning. Gabe had to go into work and get a haircut in the afternoon so I hung out with Avery. She's cutting tooth #6 and I think it was bothering her yesterday. I gave her a few teething tablets and she wanted to carry the bottle around with her and chew on it!

Gabe grabbed us some dinner on the way home, then we took Avery to Lugia's for our first ice cream outing of the summer! Of course it was delicious and Avery enjoyed it as well! I finished off the evening grocery shopping-woo hoo!

Today we ran to Sam's club to pick up a few things we need for Avery's party next weekend. We went over Gabe's parents' house for dinner. It was such a nice evening so we all sat outside and enjoyed the weather (and the flies!). We had a nice cookout with lots of yummy food! Avery tried cherries for the first time and loved them-she really loves fruit!

She also had fun playing with Owen:

and she had a taste of Daddy's lemonade:

Happy Father's Day!!

So Many People!!

We have had a very busy few days-lots of visitors and visiting! It all started on Thursday when Avery and I went to her first playgroup. We went to a local library and I think she enjoyed it! She was watching all of the kids and was really good. This is her taking a little snooze after we got home:

On Friday my friends Megan and Renee came in from Buffalo for a visit. Megan brought along Noah so him and Avery could see each other. We had a nice time visiting, ordered some pizza and watched the kids.
Here's Noah with milk mouth after his bottle:

Avery (2mos) and Noah (4mos):

After Megan and Renee left, my coworker Fran stopped over for a visit with Avery. It was nice seeing her since I haven't really seen her since I left work. That will change in a few weeks though! When Fran left, Gabe and I went to Panera for a quick bite to eat then we met his parents at Lugia's for some delicious ice cream!

Saturday we lounged around in the morning. Around dinner time we went to our friends Julie and Richie's house. We haven't seen them since they visited us in the hospital when Avery was first born. Their daughter Carly just turned a year and a half so we couldn't wait for her to meet Avery. When we first showed Avery to her, Carly kept shaking her head "no". It was funny. But she warmed up eventually to give her a kiss:

and a hug:

Later, Avery took a snooze in Julie's arms:

while Carly enjoyed Avery's carseat:

Carly had fun at the end of the night showing us her high heeled shoes! She's pretty good at walking (and running) in them!

Our busy days continue today as well. Our Aunt Connie and Uncle Francis are stopping over to meet Avery this afternoon. For dinner, we're having a cookout with our neighbors next door! So it has been a few busy days for us but it has been a lot of fun too! A nice way to spend one of our last summer weekends!

End of the Long Weekend

It's Monday night-back to work tomorrow! My weekend was pretty productive. I went to the gym both Saturday and Sunday (yes I'm still going!). I got all of the baby laundry done and all of the clothes, bedding, towels put away. I found a home for all of the diapers and wipes and got part of the changing station set up. I organized all of the books we got and put the "young" books (0-12 mos) in a basket in the nursery. We went to Lowe's and picked out new blinds and found some shelves that we'll put up once the crib arrives. Today I put our stroller together and set up the diaper pail. Out of all of the gifts, I'd say I have about 1/3 left to put away. But some of it is stuff for the crib, which we're waiting on. The rest of it?! Well, it's stuff I just don't know what to do with at the moment. Most of it is stuff we either won't use right away (potty chair, hook on chair for restaurants) or is stuff we'll use right away, but not everyday (baby tub, baby bjorn carrier, etc.). I'm finding that we don't have a ton of storage room so I'm just stuck at the moment as to where to put that stuff. I'm sure the stuff we won't need right away will make its way to the attic eventually. The stuff we'll use but not everyday? Hmmm....have to think about that for a bit! Once we get the crib and glider in the room, then I'll see what the space is like in there and get things settled in the room. But for now it'll just stay where it's been since the showers-in the dining room!

Besides baby stuff, I did the usual grocery shopping and we also went to my in-laws for a cookout today (and to Lugia's for ice cream after-YUM!). This weekend was just so nice out-the weather couldn't have been better! Gotta love long weekends!!

Lugia's

If you live in Rochester and have never been to Lugia's, shame on you! If you want great ice cream, it's the place to be! Seriously, they have the best soft serve ice cream I've ever had...and the sizes/prices can't be beat. You order a baby or kiddie size and it's HUGE! We went there tonight with Gabe's parents and our nephew-for all of us to get an ice cream or sundae was about $18 which isn't bad. Don't get me wrong, I also love Coldstone Creamery, but the place is pretty expensive for what you get. Gabe and I have had "bad luck" there the past few times we've gone-not a lot of stuff mixed in, very small portions, etc. and for 2 of us it still costs us at least $10...tasty stuff? Yeah, but Lugia's has them beat for creaminess that's for sure! The only bad thing is that they're not open year round and it's about a 25 min ride there from our house-so that's a bummer! I said tonight we should open a location closer just so we could go more often! Not that I need that at all! I did go to the gym before we went tonight so I don't feel as guilty for eating my peanut butter sundae!

Totally random switch here, but is anyone able to post comments on here for me? I know someone mentioned having problems, but I think I may have fixed it....let me know!
