First Trip to Carter's
Tonight, Gabe and I took Avery to the Carter's store in town. It was our first time there and oh my God...I could go crazy in that store! I swear, I could have bought one of everything-their clothes are just so darn cute! Avery needed a few more things for the fall so that's why we went. They just happened to be having a huge baby sale which is always a good thing. We ended up buying her a pair of jeans, two pairs of pants, two long sleeved shirts, two long sleeved onesies, a sleeper, and a winter hat and mitten set. Everything we bought was between 40-70% off so we got everything for about $70. And we got two coupons that are spend $35, get $10 off. Those are good for the next 2 weeks so I guess I'll have to go back and buy some more stuff!! If you've never been to that store and are in need of baby stuff, you must go!

Labor Day Weekend
It's the unofficial end of summer (what summer?) ...Labor Day weekend. And this year, you couldn't have asked for a better weekend-the weather was nicer this weekend than it's been all summer!
Gabe and his Dad went to Toronto Fri-Sat to see the Yankees play the Blue Jays, so I decided to make a trip to Buffalo for a visit.
I got there around 12:30 on Friday and we went to my Mom's work to show off Avery. Then my cousin Rachel and her two kids, Taylor and Eddie came over for a turkey dinner. It was so yummy! Rachel and the kids haven't seen Avery in awhile so while Rachel was holding her, I snapped a few cute pics:

Love this face:

Had to get one of the cute outfit:

Saturday I went over my friend Megan's house to see her and Noah. We had a nice visit and the kids smiled and laughed at each other-it was so cute! I forgot to bring along my camera though so I didn't get any pics of them. I left Buffalo Saturday around 7 and had an interesting ride home. Avery decided to scream all the way to the Pembroke rest stop. I pulled over there and took her carrier out of the car and tried swinging her around-didn't really help much (not to mention I looked like an idiot to the other drivers pulling in!). She started to whimper when I put her back in the car and I just turned off the radio and "Sssshhhd" her for awhile. By the time we hit Batavia, she was asleep and stayed asleep the rest of the way (thank God!).
Yesterday we wanted to do something as a family, so we decided to go to Highland Park for a picnic! We packed up some sandwiches and went and enjoyed the nice weather. We tried taking Avery for a walk around the park after, but she wasn't digging it-she cried most of the time so we left a little earlier than we would have liked. But it was nice anyways!
Daddy and Avery:

Mommy and Avery:

This morning we started off with some good ol' tummy time:
Love her blue eyes in this pic!

I went to the gym for a pilates class which I haven't taken since probably around Christmas time. It felt good to go back, but man was it tough! You don't realize what good shape you're in until you stop doing things for awhile and then go back and try doing them! I'm dying to see if I'll be sore tomorrow! We went to Gabe's parents' house for dinner today. Avery enjoyed the meal:

and some flying time with Daddy:

and of course had on a cute outfit:

So our weekend was pretty busy but very nice as well. It's sad to see summer go though-I like the fall, but it only means one thing is coming....and I'm not even going to mention it! Happy end of summer!

So Tiny
I wanted to take a few pictures to remember just how small babies are. I finally got around to taking a few photos of Avery's hand in mine just for a comparison. People always say they forget how small they are and I made the mistake when we got Jerri of not taking any pics of her next to something to show just how tiny she was. So, I want to make sure I take lots of photos of Avery next to things to show just how small she is!

Fun Times at the Vet
Today I took Jerri to the vet for her annual exam. She didn't need any shots today-just an exam. Boy was it fun! Haha!
Her and I got there (Gabe stayed home with Avery) and they weighed her-8.7lbs. The tech left the room and said the doc would be right in. Jerri was just cowered over on the exam table. I was sitting on a bench in there with her box next to me. Jerri started eyeballing the box and moving toward it so I thought she wanted to get in. All of a sudden she bolted underneath the bench! So here I am crawling on the floor trying to coax her out-she's hissing like crazy at me! Now normally she's a very good cat, but under these circumstances I didn't trust her. So after a few minutes of no success I just sat back down and waited.
The doctor comes in (who looked about 20) and I tell her the cat's under the bench. She gets on the floor with me and is using her pen as a toy trying to coax Jerri out. She reaches for her-Jerri hisses numerous times. I had a towel in Jerri's box so the doc tried using the towel to grab her-she hissed and growled like crazy and the doc couldn't get her. She says "I'm going to get some gloves".
She brings in the vet tech we started with (who was about 90lbs soaking wet and looked about 12yrs old)-the tech had these huge gloves that went up past her elbows and were studded with some sort of metal looking reinforcements. She goes under the bench and grabs the cat-boy did she let her have it! Jerri hissed, growled, bit her arm, etc like a lunatic! She had to hold Jerri on the table for the entire exam-and Jerri hated every second! She hissed and growled more than I've ever heard! Once they got Jerri back in her box the doctor told me she looked nice and healthy, but if she gets any worse at her next appointment we'll have to give her a sedative before each appointment! Crazy cat!

Back in the Habit
Wow, September 1st...can you believe it? Where did the (lack of) summer go?
Not only is it the start of a new month, but it's the start of me getting back into my old habit-the gym. I was so good at working out throughout my pregnancy-I pretty much went about 3 times a week up until the last 2 weeks or so. Then I was just getting too out of breath and uncomfortable to go. Near the end, I looked into putting my membership on hold, knowing I'd be recovering a few weeks. I wasn't even sure if that was an option, but apparently it is! So, I put my membership on hold for the months of July and August. Luckily I did since I had the c-section and all of that. So today was the day my membership kicked back in and I actually went and took a Zumba class tonight. I felt pretty good getting back into it and it was so weird going and not being pregnant! Wow!! I could breathe and move like I used to so that was nice. It's crazy to think it's been almost 10 months since I had a regular (non-pregnant) workout. The hard part? Getting there. My problem with the gym is that I hate doing cardio. Don't ask why, but I do. I dread the days I go and walk the treadmill, do the elliptical, etc. But classes? LOVE them! I don't mind going at all for the classes. The problem now is that most classes I take start between 530-6. Fine and dandy when I could get home from work and go before Gabe got home. Now? Not possible with the bambino. I'll have to wait for him to get home from work to watch her before I can go, or go on the weekends....which is usually challenging when you have stuff going on. And the latest they have classes are 7pm and it's only on a few days and the classes at that time aren't the greatest (and seriously, who wants to workout that late?). So, we'll see how my gym habit works out-I know I should make it work, but it'll be a challenge!

So Many People!!
We have had a very busy few days-lots of visitors and visiting! It all started on Thursday when Avery and I went to her first playgroup. We went to a local library and I think she enjoyed it! She was watching all of the kids and was really good. This is her taking a little snooze after we got home:

On Friday my friends Megan and Renee came in from Buffalo for a visit. Megan brought along Noah so him and Avery could see each other. We had a nice time visiting, ordered some pizza and watched the kids.
Here's Noah with milk mouth after his bottle:

Avery (2mos) and Noah (4mos):

After Megan and Renee left, my coworker Fran stopped over for a visit with Avery. It was nice seeing her since I haven't really seen her since I left work. That will change in a few weeks though! When Fran left, Gabe and I went to Panera for a quick bite to eat then we met his parents at Lugia's for some delicious ice cream!
Saturday we lounged around in the morning. Around dinner time we went to our friends Julie and Richie's house. We haven't seen them since they visited us in the hospital when Avery was first born. Their daughter Carly just turned a year and a half so we couldn't wait for her to meet Avery. When we first showed Avery to her, Carly kept shaking her head "no". It was funny. But she warmed up eventually to give her a kiss:

and a hug:

Later, Avery took a snooze in Julie's arms:

while Carly enjoyed Avery's carseat:

Carly had fun at the end of the night showing us her high heeled shoes! She's pretty good at walking (and running) in them!

Our busy days continue today as well. Our Aunt Connie and Uncle Francis are stopping over to meet Avery this afternoon. For dinner, we're having a cookout with our neighbors next door! So it has been a few busy days for us but it has been a lot of fun too! A nice way to spend one of our last summer weekends!
