The Sale of All Sales

This weekend is the sale of all sales folks!

My in-laws moved into a new house a year ago and their neighborhood does the largest garage sale that I know of. This is the first one we've gotten to experience so we had no idea what we were in for.

Gabe and I rounded up some stuff to sell-mostly baby clothes and baby items...and a few random household things.  We took everything to their house on Friday so it could get set up for Saturday morning.

The sale was both today and tomorrow, but tomorrow we're going to Buffalo for the day so we just went today.  We got to his parents' house around 10am (it started at 9) and holy cow....it took us 10-15min to drive the 3 blocks to their house from the main road! Luckily we parked in the driveway because parking there was a joke! And the weather was perfect-low 70s and sunny all day long-it was such a gorgeous day!

I will say that I have never seen a sight like this in my life. It's 200 garage sales over a span of 18 streets. The crowd was insane! Avery and I made huge chocolate chip cookies to sell-we had 40 of them-and she sold them all in 20min! Here I thought they would last her most of the day! Nope!  Then we set up a lemonade stand and we sold out of that in about 10min. It was just crazy!!  A guy a few houses down had his grill going cooking up hamburgers and hotdogs for sale, coolers of soda, huge boxes of granola bars, etc....and he had quite a line forming!  They had a few "street meat" vendors and also a local restaurant set up shop at a nearby school selling lunches. Again....I have never seen anything like it in my life!

Needless to say, we did pretty well. I'd say I sold about 3/4 of my baby clothes and I also sold quite a few toys and baby items. Gabe sold a work bench and we sold 2 lamps as well. All in all we made about $215 and Avery made about $35 between the cookies and lemonade. Not too shabby considering most of the stuff we sold was about $1-2!

This sale is every 2 years so we already are getting a game plan for the next one-lots more cookies, lots more lemonade and maybe some other goodies to go with it!  And of course by then I'll have more baby stuff to get rid of!

Weekend Recap

We had both a busy and a relaxing weekend.

Saturday was a busy day.

It started off with us having a garage/moving sale. Gabe and I were both up at 8am (before Avery got up) to haul stuff out to the driveway. The sale officially started at 9am and we closed up shop around 2pm or so. It was ok-it still seems like we have a ton of junk left. We might do another one in June....we just didn't have it in us to do both days this weekend.

Before we closed up the garage sale, I went for a quick run. I think it was the first run I took outside since Avery was born! I just did 2miles, but boy do I feel it today. I think my body is in shock! And of course it had to be the hottest day to go running too! But I made it and I feel better that I did it!

Once Avery woke up, we went for a drive by the new house. We were shocked to see that we have basement walls!!! If you remember on Wednesday, the frames were up for them to pour the walls. So in a matter of 2 days the walls were done! Here's a shot of the house from the street: This is the future garage:

The side of the house-yep, we have a window!

More of the side:

After we looked at the house, we met our friends Julie and Richie for dinner. Carly and Brayden were there too of course! We just went to Bill Gray's for some burgers. Little Brayden is getting so big (he's 9mos now!) and look at those legs! Don't you want to bite them?!

After dinner we walked to the lake to feed some ducks. On our way, I attempted to take a shot of all 3 kids-you can see how great that turned out:

None of them looking at me and Brayden's hood is over his face! Haha!

We got to where the ducks were and were surprised that it was mostly geese and swans!

And it was cool to see the swans sort of puff out their feathers-it really looked like a heart shape! So cool!

None of them were shy either-they came right up by us for some bread. I found it funny that some swans had black feet and others were more close to a white color. And the other thing-the geese and swans hiss....seriously! It sounded louder than a cat-it was a riot!

Another shot of the ducks/geese/swans:

This was Avery's first time feeding any sort of animal (besides our cat) and she loved it! She would squeal every time they took a piece she threw at them! It was funny!

Carly feeding the birds:

Avery and Carly giving hugs:

We had a really nice time and it was such a nice day! We were supposed to go to the Lilac Festival instead, but I'm glad we didn't. With all of the rain we had, I'm sure it was beyond crazy there!

Today was more of a relaxing day for us. All I did was run out and bought Avery's birthday present and went grocery shopping. Other than that, we were home all day just playing with Avery! So it was pretty relaxing for us today!!

Garage Sales, Rhinos, and More

Another weekend has gone by. We had a garage sale yesterday...didn't go very well. For some reason not many people came. I went to the gym during it, and there was no one out and about-hardly any traffic or anything-it was odd. So needless to say, we didn't sell much which means we lugged it all back inside to store-ugh! We posted some things on craigs list today so hopefully some of the bigger items sell so we dont have to drag them back to the attic.

Last night we had Gabe's company summer picnic. They had it at the Rhino's (soccer) game this year. It was fun-we sat in the suite area and dinner was catered by Famous Dave's-ribs, chicken, beans, slaw and corn muffins. Gabe's sister, her husband and the 2 kids came too so it was a lot of fun-and a great night to sit outside for it.

Today I did some running around. I actually lucked out at DSW and found a pair of brown shoes! I've been looking for a new pair for at least 2-3 years now. The ones I had are old-very scuffed up, etc. I just have very bad luck shoe shopping-everything I like is not in my size, or I find nothing I like or something. But today I lucked out-I debated between 3 pairs of shoes (I should have bought all of them to avoid this dilemma in the future) but ended up picking one to buy. So that made my day! I also ran to the mall and Aldi's. Then Gabe and I went for dinner at Salena's for dinner-it was pretty good! Great chips and salsa. Then we hit Weggies for our weekly grocery shopping and that's about it. I'm almost done with wedding thank you notes (yay!) so hopefully those will go out this week-at least mine will...Gabe is writing out his family/friends so he'll be sending them eventually...I got a head start on mine! So back to work tomorrow-yuck! The weekends just go too fast!
