Visitors

We had quite a busy week this week!

On Monday my friend Megan came out from Buffalo for a visit to meet the little peanut. It was great seeing her since we haven't seen each other since Christmas.

Monday night my Mom came out to stay for the week and help us out. She of course came with a car load of stuff-presents from her and some other people and of course food for the entire week!

She bought Cassandra a pair of PJs that match a pair that Avery has (she bought Avery hers for Christmas). Of course we had to have them wear them and get some pictures of it! Don't mind Avery's silly smile!

My Mom stayed until Friday and it was a HUGE help having her here. I wasn't supposed to drive so she was on Avery duty a lot of the week...taking her to and from daycare for us and running errands if we needed her to. And like I said, her and my Aunt made us dinner for every night last week which was a big help too!  It was nice having the extra set of hands here to get us adjusted to being home.

My cousin from Buffalo called us later in the week to tell us that her son, Eddie was playing in a hockey tournament out here all weekend. We like to try and see him play so we told her when they head out this way to let us know. We offered up our house for them to stay and they took us up on our offer! He had 2 games on Friday, 2 Saturday and 2 on Sunday so they stayed at our house both Friday and Saturday nights.

Saturday morning we went to see his first game. We took both kids and had a great time-Avery really enjoyed watching the game!

I snapped this pic at the end of the game as Eddie was leaving the ice:

And a cute pic of Eddie and Avery (holding his hockey stick) after the game:

We didn't make the afternoon game because Gabe's sister and her family came over to meet Cassandra. They stayed a few hours and when they left, my cousin's were just returning to our house after their second Saturday game.

My cousin brought a plethora of gifts for the kids, including this adorable outfit (the hat courtesy of the hospital):

And I love this pic of Cassandra curled up in a little ball on Gabe:

Saturday night we made a pasta dinner here and the kids had fun playing together. They skyped with my Mom and Aunt to tell them the news on the hockey games:
Sunday morning Gabe and I took the kids to get pictures taken at Penney's and they did a really great job! The kids both cooperated and the pictures came out great!  Unfortunately, we missed my cousin's 2 games on Sunday as well-one was at 8am and the other was while we were having their pictures taken. Since we found out about the games sort of last minute, there wasn't much we could do. We already had plans made (his sister coming by, pics) and the timing just didn't work out. I was a little bummed we couldn't make it to another game, but it was really great spending time with them this weekend. It's been awhile since we've seen my cousin and her kids and I think Eddie and Avery had a blast together!

Tomorrow is back to reality-no more visitors staying here and a "normal" week-yep, I'll have both kids myself this week! Should be interesting!

Weekend

We had a pretty good weekend.

Friday Avery had an eye appointment to check on the tube in her left eye. It's still in place, which is a good thing, and all looks well. We'll go back in 3 more months for another checkup. After that, we met Gabe at another daycare to check it out. Then Friday night we didn't do much-had dinner and relaxed.

Saturday I went to the gym in the morning, then had to take my car in for an inspection and something that was recalled. After Avery's nap, we took a trip to the huge Wegman's, which we hardly ever go to. While there, Gabe and I picked up some stuff for dinner....he got some sushi and I tried one of their burritos from the burrito bar (highly recommend it!). Then we came home and had dinner. Avery got to try chocolate pudding as a treat for dessert!

Then today we just hung out most of the morning and early afternoon. When Avery napped, I got some things together for the Superbowl. Around dinnertime, Gabe's sister and her family came over for the Superbowl. None of us really cared about the game-we were busy watching the kids and interested more in the commercials. We had some yummy food and just relaxed and visited-it seems like we haven't seen them in such a long time!
Avery was wearing all of her rings as bracelets:

And was loving that her cousins were here (giving hugs):

I actually have off of work tomorrow-Gabe's parents are in Italy so I'm on Avery duty for the day! Hopefully her and I will make a trip to the mall!

Garage Sales, Rhinos, and More

Another weekend has gone by. We had a garage sale yesterday...didn't go very well. For some reason not many people came. I went to the gym during it, and there was no one out and about-hardly any traffic or anything-it was odd. So needless to say, we didn't sell much which means we lugged it all back inside to store-ugh! We posted some things on craigs list today so hopefully some of the bigger items sell so we dont have to drag them back to the attic.

Last night we had Gabe's company summer picnic. They had it at the Rhino's (soccer) game this year. It was fun-we sat in the suite area and dinner was catered by Famous Dave's-ribs, chicken, beans, slaw and corn muffins. Gabe's sister, her husband and the 2 kids came too so it was a lot of fun-and a great night to sit outside for it.

Today I did some running around. I actually lucked out at DSW and found a pair of brown shoes! I've been looking for a new pair for at least 2-3 years now. The ones I had are old-very scuffed up, etc. I just have very bad luck shoe shopping-everything I like is not in my size, or I find nothing I like or something. But today I lucked out-I debated between 3 pairs of shoes (I should have bought all of them to avoid this dilemma in the future) but ended up picking one to buy. So that made my day! I also ran to the mall and Aldi's. Then Gabe and I went for dinner at Salena's for dinner-it was pretty good! Great chips and salsa. Then we hit Weggies for our weekly grocery shopping and that's about it. I'm almost done with wedding thank you notes (yay!) so hopefully those will go out this week-at least mine will...Gabe is writing out his family/friends so he'll be sending them eventually...I got a head start on mine! So back to work tomorrow-yuck! The weekends just go too fast!

Rollerblading....

I LOVE it! I started years ago-I'm talking when it first came out. When I lived back in Buffalo I used to go pretty frequently. I even had my Mom as my sidekick for a few summers. I used to go up and down a street near my Mom's house-that is until I almost got hit by a car! Since then, I'm scared to death to go blading anywhere near traffic. So then I frequented Isleview in Tonawanda-a nice path next to the river. Crowded enough that you weren't scared of something happening but not so crowded (unless it was a weekend in the summer) that you were running over people. Its so peaceful there-nice and quiet and you can just blade and think. Well, since I moved to Rochester 4 years ago (yes it's been that long!) I haven't really gone at all. Mainly because I haven't found a place that nicely paved with little traffic. I tried going a few places, but they just didn't do it for me. So today, the hubby and I finally found a decent place. Behind my work runs a canal and we knew there was a pathway that ran along side it (hubby ran a 5K on it earlier this year). The problem? How do we get to the pathway? So tonight we parked at my work but all the paths leading to the canal were gravel-which doesn't fly with rollerblades. So we drove around a bit and finally found a paved pathway up to it! Hubby ran while I bladed and it was great! It felt so good to get on them again since it's been at least a year, if not more! We went about 45min or so-a decent workout, but the funny thing is that it doesn't feel like a work out to me. That's how this whole thing came about today-it's my normal cardio day at the gym and I HATE doing cardio! HATE IT! So since it was nice out I thought of going for a run with hubby, then he came up with the idea of finding the canal path so I could blade. And I really don't sweat like I do at the gym-not sure why because my heart rate definitely gets up there but who knows! So anyways, it was fabulous-I hope I get the chance to go again before the weather turns!
