Today Gabe and I joined our friends Julie and Richie for a walk to support the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation
Julie's husband Richie has been battling Crohn's for awhile now. He was diagnosed with it in 2002, but they think he has had it for a long time before that.
Julie sent out an email looking for donations and walkers to join their team, so Gabe and I joined them in walking today! It was held at the MCC campus and it was a beautiful night for a walk. It was overcast and probably in the low 70s which was perfect. Before the race, they had popcorn, cotton candy, sno cones and all that good stuff for the kids (and us too of course!). Then we did the walk which was about 2 1/2 miles (and yes I did it being 38 weeks pregnant!). After the race, they had a big cookout. We didn't stay for it, but they had quite a bit of food for free which was nice. We decided since the baby will be arriving soon that we would enjoy a dinner out somewhere since our days of doing that are limited. But the walk was really nice-both Julie and Richie's parents came, their daughter Carly was there and a few others so we had a decent group. They had a pretty good turnout-I'd say maybe 200 people or so? I'm a bad judge at that, but it was a good crowd. It was nice doing something to support a friend of ours...makes you feel good about yourself when you can do something like that.
Thanks for the invite Julie! We had a good time and got in some good exercise!
