I'm Sick of Being Sick!

I swear I can't catch a break!

Since Avery was born, I have been sick about every 2-3 months it seems. I never get sick that frequently. And it's not just a cold....it's been ear infections, sinus infections, strep throat...not the easy relax and you'll feel better sickness...more like the go to the doctor's and get drugs sickness.

The kicker? When you breastfeed, you're supposed to have a boosted immunity...apparently mine decided to work the opposite way. Luckily (knock on wood), Avery hasn't gotten sick much at all. I suppose I'd rather be sick than have her sick. At least I can deal with it.

But seriously?! This is getting crazy! I just checked and my last illness was near the end of August...so just over 2 months ago.

Sure enough a few days ago I started waking up with an odd feeling sore throat. Not your typical sore throat where you're afraid to swallow because it'll hurt so bad. It felt more like my throat was raw and irritated. It did hurt a little when I swallowed, but not like swallowing razor blades. I also had some post nasal drip and was clearing my throat a lot (causing the sore throat?) but the odd thing is that my nose really isn't plugged up at all.

Monday night my voice started going. Yesterday at work was interesting since all I do is talk most of the day. My throat hurt on and off and my voice was in and out all day.

Last night I slept terribly-I was up at least every 1-2 hours-my throat tickled and made me cough or it was hurting. I just felt wiped out this morning from not getting any solid sleep. Then I think I blew my nose too hard and almost passed out! My throat feels a little better now, but my voice is still raspy (as Gabe said-he married an 80yr old smoker).

I'm just hoping it gets better and not worse from here-I seriously do NOT want to go to the doctors again for more drugs. I've seen that place way too many times in the past year.

Have you ever tried a Neti pot? It was so wonderful for me during my allergy season. But just recently, I felt like I was getting a sinus infection...felt awful! I used the Neti pot 2x/day for 2 days and feel so much better. I definitely recommend giving it a shot!

I haven't tried one of those yet...something about it gives me the creeps! haha! The doc I work for swears by it too...I just haven't gotten the guts to try it yet!

It took me two years to get the courage to try it and I regret not doing it sooner. Just give it a shot :)

No I haven't gotten one yet! I've been to the store, but it didn't cross my mind to get one while there. I guess I'll think of it the next time I'm sick!
